SKY DEALS - LATEST NEWS:

Update Jan 2010:
Sky have stopped the £75 deals for now!

You'll have to pay for the regular 'Freesat-from-Sky' which is currently priced at £175. So nearly all of the information on this page does not apply at the moment. But you never know with Sky - they may well be offering some deals later this year. If you see any deals, please let us know!

£75 deal direct from Sky

Now that the BBC/ITV Freesat has arrived, Sky is using cut price deals to attract new viewers. You'll now find details of its £75 Pay Once Watch Forever package on the Freesat-from-Sky website.

The Freesat-from-Sky website says... Our Pay Once Watch Forever package gives you Freesat from Sky, with over 230 digital channels, for half the price of Freesat from Sky - plus enjoy 4 of Sky TV's entertainment channel mixes for 4 months. That's a trial of exclusive Sky TV worth £20 per month. To cancel those mixes you need to call Sky before the end of the 4 month trial period or you will continue to pay £20 per month for the 4 Sky Mix package. Check it out here.

What channels will you be left with after cancelling? Over 300 - more than 200 TV and 100 Radio! This includes all the Christian channels on Sky. All the Sky Free-to-Air channels are listed at www.freesatfromsky.co.uk.

TERMS & CONDITIONS
The free Sky box must be connected to a telephone line for 12 months. (This is for Sky's interactive TV, which you don't have to use. It enables you to bid, buy or vote for something you see on TV). For full details go to Sky's website.

Be warned, cancelling won't be easy! Here are two examples of dealing with Sky.

Colin contacted us to say... With the Sky deal for £75, when accepting the free 6 month trial package please make sure that if you don't want to subscribe after the 6 month period, you cancel at least a month before the end of the trial period. Otherwise you will be charged at least one months subscription because Sky say you must give at least 28 days notice to terminate the contract (I know because it happened to me).

Mike contacted us to say... I paid Sky £75 for a new dish and they gave me a free 4 month 4mix, and for me to opt out of my contract with 30 days notice. Great till you try! I made three calls for about 15 mins each time. I was kept on hold - and when I got answered they put me onto another department saying there is a 3 to 7 mins waiting time. Then, after 1 min they cut me off and each time never got back. Also I emailed three times but they have not got back yet. Maybe I was literally talking to the sky! (Added Nov. 2008)

So the lesson is cancel online or write a letter, unless you fancy your chances phoning Sky's call centre! For more details go to our How to Cancel Sky page.

Other ways to get Sky for £75

from Dixons, Argos, Currys and ASDA, but only for new Sky TV customers.

Dixons Website deal - Sky Pay Once Watch Forever for £75

You buy a 'Pay Once, Watch Forever' box. This is just a small DVD sized box which includes your unique Sky card (NOT a Viewing Card) including reference number. Then you will need to call Sky with this number to arrange installation of your satellite system. Your Viewing Card will be delivered upon installation. Also included are instructions and a returns wallet. Before 4 months have passed you must decide whether you want to stay with Sky (rental) or receive the free channels only (same as Freesat from Sky).

Dixon's website says... For £75 new Sky TV customers get over 200 free digital TV channels & 4 months of Sky's 4 most popular Entertainment Mixes (normally £19/month). After 4 months you'll receive Sky TV for £19/month. If you no longer want to receive Sky TV let Sky know & you can continue with the free channels.

Sky 'Pay Once, Watch Forever' deal from ASDA for just £75

Peter contacted us to say... In my local ASDA in Llandudno, North Wales, I saw a package in a DVD case offering Sky free-to-air for £75 which is half the price of Freesat. I decided to contact Sky and order the package. Everything went OK and they even gave me the choice of the 2 packages from them for the 6 months period so "It did just what it says on the packet". The system is now installed and working.
According to the leaflet in the box the automatic mix is Variety and Knowledge but I was offered Style, Music, etc. The letter from Sky states "Your Sky Pack gives you 6 months of top Sky TV. When the 6 months is up, you can choose whether or not to continue viewing all the entertainment Sky has to offer - we'll be in touch to find out". It also says that the viewing card only needs to be in, and the phone line connected for 6 months. (Added 16 August 2007)
