SKY DEALS - LATEST NEWS:
Now that the BBC/ITV Freesat has arrived, Sky is using cut price deals to attract new viewers.
Here's the latest. Sky for £75 from Dixons, Argos, Currys and ASDA, but only for new Sky TV customers.
Dixons Website deal - Sky Pay Once Watch Forever for £75
You buy a 'Pay Once, Watch Forever' box. This is just a small DVD sized box which includes your unique Sky card (NOT a Viewing Card) including reference number. Then you will need to call Sky with this number to arrange installation of your satellite system. Your Viewing Card will be delivered upon installation. Also included are instructions and a returns wallet. Before 4 months have passed you must decide whether you want to stay with Sky (rental) or receive the free channels only (same as Freesat from Sky).
Dixon's website says... For £75 new Sky TV customers get over 200 free digital TV channels & 4 months of Sky's 4 most popular Entertainment Mixes (normally £19/month). After 4 months you'll receive Sky TV for £19/month. If you no longer want to receive Sky TV let Sky know & you can continue with the free channels.
Either way you keep all 95 free radio channels.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
Sky Viewing Card will be supplied upon installation.
The free Sky box must be connected to a telephone line for 12 months.
This is for Sky's interactive TV, which you don't have to use.
(Interactive TV enables you to bid, buy or vote for something you see on TV).

Colin contacted us to say... With the Sky deal for £75, when accepting the free 6 month trial package please make sure that if you don't want to subscribe after the 6 month period, you cancel at least a month before the end of the trial period. Otherwise you will be charged at least one months subscription because Sky say you must give at least 28 days notice to terminate the contract (I know because it happened to me).

Sky 'Pay Once, Watch Forever' deal from ASDA for just £75
I received this message from Peter Hemsley on 16 August 2007:
In my local ASDA in Llandudno, North Wales, I saw a package in a DVD case offering Sky free-to-air for £75 which is half the price of Freesat. I decided to contact Sky and order the package. Everything went OK and they even gave me the choice of the 2 packages from them for the 6 months period so "It did just what it says on the packet". The system is now installed and working. The pack I bought from ASDA was the last one on the shelf, but when I was in the store this morning they had been restocked so it is still running.
"According to the leaflet in the box the automatic mix is Variety and Knowledge but I was offered Style, Music, etc. The letter from Sky states "Your Sky Pack gives you 6 months of top Sky TV. When the 6 months is up, you can choose whether or not to continue viewing all the entertainment Sky has to offer - we'll be in touch to find out". It also says that the viewing card only needs to be in, and the phone line connected for 6 months.
Sky may well have produced only a limited number of these packs so, if your local supermarket has a similar offer, please tell us and we'll put the details here.
But, Sky are not offering any deals at the moment if you call them direct
Even so, if you plan to get a Sky system, it's always worth asking Sky if they are offering any deals.
If you hear of a deal from Sky, please tell us and we'll update this page.
To give you an idea of what may be offered, here are the details of the Sky deals that were available during June and early July, 2007. They were one per household and for new customers only.
- Sky system for a one-off payment of £75.
You get a regular system, including a choice of two entertainment mixes for 6 months.
After 6 months the entertainment mixes are automatically turned off leaving you with a
'Freesat-from-Sky' system.
The box must be connected to a phone line, but just for the first six months.
This looks like the best deal ever for a new system from Sky.
What's in it for Sky? Clearly, Sky hopes you will get 'hooked' on the entertainment mixes and opt to pay £16 per month from the seventh month.
Thanks to Robert Cox for telling us about this deal. - Sky system for a one-off payment of £120.
You get a regular system, including a choice of two entertainment mixes for 12 months.
By paying up front, you get the first year's rental at a one-third discount.
Be careful, after 12 months you'll be on a regular Sky contract and begin paying the full £16 per month unless you remember to
cancel before the end of the first year.
Not prepared to risk getting 'hooked' on the Sky mixes? Then don't go near this offer!
Thanks to Maureen Pickles for for telling us about this deal.
Sky put nothing about these deals on its website. You'd only find out about them by calling Sky on 08706 061111.
